Ultra-Low Absorption Coatings by Precision Photonics

BFi OPTiLAS, pan-European partner of Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC), is pleased to announce the availability of its ultra-low absorption line of thin film coatings.
Enabled by advanced in-house metrology and expertise in ion beam sputtered (IBS) deposition, we are able to routinely deliver anti-reflection (AR) coatings with losses less than 0.5ppm, and high-reflection (HR) coatings with losses less than 2ppm.

This unique capability is based on photothermal common path interferometry, and when combined with proprietary calibration methods, results in measurement sensitivity of less than 0.1ppm for optical materials like fused silica.
Measurement services to customers wishing to measure absorption in their own coatings or substrates is also available including two dimensional mapping of surfaces.
The combination of extreme durability, high reliability, precision spectral control, and high laser damage threshold makes ion beam sputtering the coating method of choice for high power laser applications and low loss optics. Those unique performance should be of major interest to customers using these optics in ‘world leading’ 10kW class laser systems.

OPHIR: BeamTrack Laser Power/Position/Size Sensors

BeamTrack is a unique series of thermal detectors that combine multiple functions in one device: power, energy, beam position, and beam size. The sensors also provide information on centering and beam wander, all in a compact unit that is the same size as single function detectors of the same power level.

BeamTrack sensors are the only laser detectors able to measure power, position, size (PPS), energy, centering, and wander in a single device. Sensors are available with a range of aperture sizes, from small 12mm to large 50mm. The detectors use broadband or P-type absorbers and measure a broad spectral range –150nm to 20µm.

BeamTrack sensors operate with Ophir's Nova II and Vega smart displays, and Juno PC interface. Each display features a "Smart Connector" interface that automatically configures and calibrates the display when plugged into one of the company’s measurement heads.

Precision Photonics Innovative Low GVD Polarizing Solutions

Those polarizing beam splitter have been specifically designed for broadband femtosecond applications requiring high extinction and low dispersion. By utilizing a low dispersion coating design within an epoxy-free, fused silica prism assembly, this unique laser component is ideal for all Ti:Sapphire lasers used within the 700-1100 nm wavelength region.

Like our other standard prism polarizers, surface quality will be 20-10 or better with transmitted wavefront < λ/10 and a clear aperture > 10 mm. Low loss IBS BBAR coatings will be provided on the input and output faces.
Low GVD Cube polarizers

BFi OPTiLAS also offers dielectric coatings offering unique benefit over commonly used Metal mirrors for general-purpose broadband high reflectors which drawbacks include susceptibility to laser damage, mechanical abrasions and surface degradation. BFi OPTiLAS’s broadband dielectric coating covers a wide range or wavelengths (350-1100 nm) with >99% reflectivity, independent of both angle and polarization. The high-energy ion-beam-sputtering (IBS) process results in durable, dense dielectric films that have superior reflective and mechanical properties in addition to being easy to clean, scratch resistant and insensitive to environmental changes. With high damage thresholds (>5J/cm²) and low absorption, they are ideal for frequency doubled and tripled Nd:YAG lasers, fiber lasers and broadband or tunable laser applications.

OPHIR:Shock Absorber for Laser Power/Energy Sensors

The Shock Absorber is the industry's first mounting post designed to allow the operation of sensitive pyroelectric laser power/energy sensors in an environment with vibration.

This special mount smoothes out vibration and eliminates false triggering, reducing the sensor's susceptibility to vibration from 2 to 10 times. Pyroelectric energy sensors are sensitive to acoustic signals as well as thermal.

The Shock Absorber is the first device in the industry to eliminate false signals and leave intact the sensitivity to good signals. This provides more accurate measurement of low energy pulsed lasers, which are often operating in noisy environments.

The Shock Absorber mounting post works with all Ophir energy sensors, including the PE Series of pyroelectric detectors that provide the highest damage threshold, highest pulse energies, and widest spectral range in the industry.
